Sophie's Doll Party!!

By Sophie & Mom

Sophie planned a Doll Play-date for her and her friends.   She wanted to have a tea party and a cafe' where her friends could order their food for lunch.

Here is the menu Sophie made for her friends.
(She made it all herself on the computer)
Sophie was the waiter and I was the chef.

The day before Sophie and I chose all the mini snacks we could find at the store.
We had mini oreos, mini nutter butter thingys, mini fudge swirls and mini cheese crackers.

Everyone had their dolls and a doll tea cup.

We filled the tea pots with Capri Sun.

 After tea everyone swam.

 And splashed!!

One of the moms brought Sophie a new doll dress as a gift!

 It was a great day!!

A beautiful shawl made by Nana!

We just had to share pictures of this lovely tucker shawl made by grandma for our American Girls!

You can see all the tiny seed beads that Nana added as she crocheted!

Here is Elizabeth modeling the shawl wearing one of her Regency gowns

Such a pretty delicate piece of handwork.
Thank you Nana!!

American Girl is retiring Molly and Emily

Say farewell to Molly and Emily!

As a tribute to Molly and Emily I thought I would take some photos of our Molly and the clothes and accessories we have for her.  For those who are new to our blog this Molly was found at a Salvation Army store.  She was fully dressed and looked like she had sat on someone's shelf for many years.  Her hair was twisted into two buns on either side of her head and covered in dust.  I brought her home and cleaned her up and she has definitely been a favorite for both of us.

This is a picture of her after her initial hair wash and clean up.  We didn't even know she was a Molly until we went to the AG Store a week later!  Eventually I gave her a downy dunk
which really made a huge difference to her hair.
Unfortunately I did cut off about 1/2 an inch of her worst hair right after we got her home.

This is Molly in her Christmas dress.  This is the dress she was
wearing when I found her at Salvation Army.
Such a sweet face!

Here is Molly in her school jumper with her satchel.

I also have her school satchel with some of her school items.
We have her flash cards, but I did not find them for this photo.

I know this is Emily's dress, but it is so sweet I wanted to add it.
Molly is holding her red bag and Molly handkerchief.

 This is Molly's snow suit.
I got it because it has such pretty embroidery before
I even realized it was part of Molly's collection.

Thrift Store Fabric finds!

On a recent visit from a dear friend who is an AMAZING thrifter we found these 2 skirts.
Actually she found them and pointed out that they might make great doll dresses.

The white skirt has small roses embroidered all over
it and the green skirt has layers of lace, silky fabric and tulle.
I recently read that the slip pattern from the Molly pattern found here:
http://www.agplaythings.com/ag%20patterns/dolldresspatterns.html
made a perfect A-line dress.
I wanted to try out the slip pattern
and thought this might be a perfect time to try it out.

(If I get some photos of a second dress being sewn in either fabric I will try to add a tutorial)

Anyway, here is the end results!

I am very happy with the dresses.  Since the skirts are both lined
I was able to cut out the lining and dress all together.

The white dress I cut out about 1/2 an inch longer than the green, just an fyi.

Savannah Ann & Emma's Adventures in Camping

Based on true events!

Savannah Ann and Emma have decided to go camping.
They took their two dogs, Buddy and Missy.
I think we are ready to go Emma!
Yes, I think we are.  Let's see, sleeping bags, pillows, tent,
lantern...

Oh Emma!  I just love driving through the mountains.
Me too Savannah, it is so cool and lovely.

Let's set up the tent first.

Here you go Missy into the tent!

Buddy, don't get underfoot.

Mmm, I am so hungry.  Do we have seconds?
Oh yes, I put the other hotdogs over there

                                          snif, snif                                                  gulp

Hey, Emma, did you check the weather for this weekend?
No, why?
It's just looking a little cloudy.
I can still see some blue sky, I am sure it won't rain.

Hey, where are the other hotdogs?
They were here a minute ago...
BUDDY!!

Uh oh, maybe we better get settled in the tent.

Oh well, a little rain is nice to fall asleep to.

Hehe, Buddy you are such a sweet boy.
grrr, grrr, grrrrr
Missy stop your growling, they are just playing.

 *yaaawn*  Boy, I am sleepy.
Let's go to sleep.

zzzzzzzz, zzzzzz

*distant thunder*

CRASH!!

Ahh!  what was that!?!
Oh no, it is really raining and thundering now!

Oof!  Buddy get off your too heavy!

\
FLASH!! CRASH!!!

Grrr, grrr, grrr.
MISSY!  HUSH!

 downpour

Oh no!  What is that smell?!?!
It's Buddy!  He does that when he is scared!
The smell is filling the whole tent!!

AAAHHH!  Ooof, Buddy get off me!!
GRRR, GRRR, GRRR.
Missy stop!
Oh the smell is awful!
FLASH! CRASH!

AHH!  Emma let's get out of here!
grrr, grrr, grrr. Missy hush!
But it's pouring rain and it's the middle of the night!
I don't care! Let's go!

(Much later, back at Emma's loft)
