Something I NEVER thought I'd do!

This is my Molly.  Most of you know she came from a thrift store
and she was in pretty rough shape. She looked like she had
been sitting on a shelf gathering dust for years!

I have done a LOT of work on her hair over the years,
but it just didn't look good. It is SO dry.
You can see a big short clump that must have been cut at one time.
And I cut off about an inch of her hair
that I thought was hopelessly damaged.
I wish I had known then what I know now!

The older pleasant Co. dolls had such heavy bangs.
Truth be told, Molly looked like she had a mullet. sigh.
I shopped for doll wigs thinking maybe
I could give her a whole new look?
But, I couldn't do it.  I needed a real 'Molly' wig,

Then I saw this ad on eBay for a genuine Molly wig.
It was uncut and still had shine.
It looked like it was in pretty good shape.
Still, I wasn't sure if I could do it!

BUT I DID!!
This was the hardest part - taking off Molly's hair!
It actually came off very easy which tells me it was holding on by a thread.

Here is the first try on. You can see how faded her eyebrows are, but
you couldn't tell before because they were covered up by those bangs.

Here she is after I painted some new brows.
Later I freshened up her lips and cheeks as well.

   Look at Molly now!
The bangs are lighter and her face looks brighter.

 I love her new hair!

Pretty in pink.

Thanks Kathy, I am very happy with how she looks now. I have gone over the new wig with a flat iron and all those dry spots look brand new!

Thank you Linda! I am very happy with how Molly looks. I think that is a Carpatina dress. When I saw it I knew it would be pretty on Molly.

Thanks Fawn! I love doing makeovers. It is so satisfying to see an improvement in a doll like Molly.

*From Julie's doll mom, Sharry:*

I was going to do that for my boy doll, Jason when I first got him. But I was chicken and had already started to photograph him before the wig came. But now I can't see him any other way.

She looks great! I hear you on the heavy bangs, I have a PC Samantha who has a similar issue. I've trimmed them a little, but they are still always in her eyes.

I know what you mean Julie. That was the reason I really struggled about what to do. I am so glad I made the change.

Thanks Flo, I am very happy I did this for Molly. It's like she's a new doll but still my Molly! I don't know if that makes sense? Maybe it's because I love my Molly and it makes me happy to see her looking so pretty.

She looks amazing. We have had an early PC Samantha on an extended stay with us, and her bangs are so crazy thick she is super hard to photograph! I appreciate the thick wig, but it's a little overboard in the front!

Thank you! I am SO happy with Molly's new wig. You are right the bangs are really TOO thick and heavy on the older dolls. I struggled with Molly's mullet for years. I wonder if it was the era they were made in? We all had strange hair in the late 80s, ha!
