New dress for Crissy and Cricket

This is an up-cycled dress I made from a knit top
I found in a thrift store.
I love how it turned out!

Cricket has a new dress too.
I have made several dresses from this pattern.

Not a new dress but Velvet wanted to get in the picture!

Oh Velvet!

Note: I know some of you may have noticed I have gone back to the dolls original names. I kept calling them by their original names so I gave up and reverted.
Also, Lisa has gone to live with a friend who always wanted a Crissy!

Absolutely adorable! I think the hardest part with finding fabric to make doll clothes out of is the scale of the print, and that stripe is just perfect. I'm in the process of digging out my dining room (it's a wreck at the moment) and hopefully as the weather warms up I will be back to sewing.

Thank you! I loved this fabric too. I have enough to make 1 or 2 more dresses or sweaters for AG maybe? I am debating. I feel you - my sewing room is usually in some state of messy disaster! I recently steeled myself and cleaned up my post Christmas pile.

Love the new dresses--I like Chrissy dolls and her friends...something so sweet and optimistic about them.

Thank you! I agree, I played with these dolls when I was a girl and just love them!

The Crissy and Velvet dolls were really well made and the face sculpt is really amazing...
I well remember these dolls from my childhood, but I did not have a Velvet... but I do now, LOL and I hope to acquire a Cricket this year.

I have a fun short cut--- When you find a pattern that works (era style and scale) on a woman's blouse or shirt-- you can use part of the sleeve for a skirt--[ The waist band for the dolls is of course the normal wrist area, etc.,] I had fun making matching maxi skirts for Velvet and Crissy-- I only had to cut and zigzag the raw edge. I think I will use a regular french style hem the next time.

You are a girl after my own heart! I make lots of clothes for pit dolls in the same way. I love makeovers, whether it is the dolls or clothes and accessories for the dolls.

Oh and I hope you get that Cricket soon!

Hmmm...I wonder if they are related to my friends Crissy and Velvet? *winK*

*From Julie's doll mom, Sharry:*

I'm hoping one day I'll get a black Velvet doll as a little sister for Sabrina (black Crissy).

I think they might be! It's like they are TWINS they are SO alike. I have been looking at Black Crissy on ebay, but I didn't know there was a black Velvet!?!?

OK, I just checked ebay and found one, she is A-dorable!!! I had no idea. Ya know Sharry, between you and Flo I am constantly having to fight the "Maybe just one more doll" battle! ;)
